As one of the best gay characters on TV says goodbye.
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- British LGBT advocacy group Stonewall has secured the support of celebs like James Sutton (Hollyoaks) Dan Gillespie-Sells (out lead singer of The Feelings), Sir Ian McKellen, Dannii Minogue, comedian Alan Carr, and Mark Feehily (Westlife) to promote the "Some people are Gay. Get over it!" anti-bullying campaign.
- The IFP will honor out director Gus Van Sant at this year's Gotham Awards, and in conjunction with the filmmaker's latest project will be donating cameras to New York's Harvey Milk High School and starting a mentorship program (in conjunction with NewFest) to encourage young LGBT filmmakers. It's news like this that makes it worth getting up in the morning, yaknow?
- Okay, this review of the disastrous remake of The Women from The Stranger written by "Diane Keaton" is genius. It had me at "What's up, bitches?"
Soon-to-be wed lovebirds George Takei and Brad Altman
- Everyone's favorite wacky gay uncles, George Takei and hubby Brad Altman, will wed officially this Sunday. It's not too late to send them a blender! (Seriously, that's awesome, and we send our best!)
- Okay, so we're not exactly BFFs with some of the folks at Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. But having Shirley Manson's new character pose as a urinal? Somebody over there really does have issues.

After weeks of having to fantasize about their storyline (mine involved the two of them in a remake of Summer Lovers...with me as the mysterious stranger who becomes the trois in their menage), we'll finally see some John Paul and Kieron action on Hollyoaks late next week.
But if you can't wait, we've got some pics (like the one above, with J.P. in an absolutely hideous shirt), and some spoilers, plus news about a return to Hollyoaks for James Sutton!
You can see it all after the break, and thanks to dkellergrl2001 for the heads up.

Tired of barely there and stereotypical gay characters on U.S. television? Check out these shows.
What Candy thinks of Tori, who Paulo Szot sees across a crowded room, and Mrs. Brady imagines a gay kid!
Hollyoaks actors James Sutton and Jake Hendricks pal it up at the Inside Soap Awards launch
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious. - We didn't make it to Outfest this year, but GLAAD's got some great coverage of not only a bunch of the features, but also the filmmaker panels and events.
- We missed this one a little while back, but the BBC movie Being Human, which starred out British actor Russell Tovey (The History Boys), has been picked up for series. No word on casting yet, but here's hoping that Tovey returns as the resident angsty twentysomething werewolf. (Yes, you read that right.)
- Never content to let a chance to utter the magical words "Cheyenne Jackson" slip by, allow us to direct you to this charming feature that Time Out NY recently did of the Broadway multiple-threat (I stopped counting, really).
Sean Penn as Harvey Milk made the cover of Vanity Fair's Fanfair (courtesy of boy culture) - Here's a rather charming interview with John Barrowman in which he discusses in depth his decision to participate in an investigation into the causes of sexuality (the Making of Me documentary) that also includes some great audio of John doing his Scottish accent.
- There's much buzz today about a bill being pushed in Massachusetts that would repeal a 1913 law that currently prohibits gay couples from out-of-state from marrying there. With nearby New York now acknowledging same-sex unions enacted in states where such unions are legal, the change would mean oodles of tourist dollars for Mass. (Currently New Yawkahs have to fly to California.)
