• Oscar winner Tilda Swinton received the "Career Achievement Honor" last night at the 2008 American Film Institute Festival. The gay ally has been a striking figure in cinema ever since she worked with the late, out auteur Derek Jarman on a number of films in the 80's. Never one to be pigeonholed, she transitions easily from independent fare such as The Deep End and Orlando to roles in commercial hits such as The Chronicles of Narnia.

• There's a debate raging at AMERICAblog.com over a post titled Why is the Sundance Film Festival taking place in the hate state of Utah?. Because the Mormon Church in that state spent so much money getting Proposition 8 passed, people are being urged to boycott various Utah businesses and pressure Robert Redford into moving his iconic (and very gay friendly) festival. What do you think?

• Head on over to The Gays of Daytime for a look at an interview Soap Opera Weekly did with former Forbidden Love writer Tom Chroust. He's now writing for All That Matters, and he has some interesting things to say about how far he's allowed to go with gay content. • Above you can see a cheeky new ad from Tourism Montreal titled Dave Does Montreal, which is aimed at getting the gay tourism dollar. If this is what I can expect when I visit, I am so there!

• And finally, after the huge haul of cash Sex & The City: The Movie grabbed, a sequel was inevitable, and now star Kim Cattrall has confirmed it. While I enjoyed the movie, I thought it was a let down from the series. Maybe it was the running time (two and a half hours) or that practically nothing was done with the gay characters of Anthony and Stanford, but it just didn't have the spirit that the series did.
