Adamo Ruggiero joins "Dog Sees God" ... and just how gay are The Peanuts?

Gay Degrassi star Adamo Ruggiero's next acting gig will be on the Toronto stage in a production of the Peanuts-inspired Dog Sees God. The cynical comedy asks what might happen to the iconic Peanuts characters if they grew up to become contemporary teens.

Charlie Brown (or "CB") is contemplating life and death after his dog died, his sister is now a goth, and his best friend has traded his security blanket for Harold and Kumar's favorite herb.

Ruggiero plays Van, the Linus character, who is still thoughtful and philosophical but has also become a stoner in his teen years, a role that was originated by another gay actor, Daniel Franzese (Bully, Party Monster, Mean Girls).

Adamo is accompanied by his Degrassi castmates Jake Epstein, Mike Lobel and Paula Bracati. Considering that the Off-Broadway production of Dog Sees God included performers with a gay following like Eliza Dushku, Ian Somerhalder and America Ferrera, a cast heavy on Degrassi faves seems apt.

The Peanuts Gang of course inspired their own Broadway musical decades back (You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown) and their continued appeal to gay folks led us to wonder:

Which member of the Peanuts Gang is most likely to be gay?

More gay Peanuts trivia and our guesses, after the break.

AfterElton Briefs: New B-52s, Matt Damon, Anthony Rapp and more!

The World's Greatest Party Band needs no introduction.

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear a compromising football-related position after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Listen to the first song from the new B-52s album, a little ditty called "Funplex". (Nothing says "fun" like Fred Schneider yelling "Candelabras and a Wonder Bra!" and "I'm at the mall on a diet pill"!)
  • We'll have a review of the upcoming HBO movie Bernard and Doris and an interview with its fabulous star, Susan Sarandon, next week ... but in the meantime, Michael Musto's account of the bizarre events of the movie's premiere party should tide you over (Rush Limbaugh?!).

  • Beginning this evening, sister site 365 Gay and Logo television will begin airing a special interview with Hillary Clinton taped exclusively for CBS News on Logo (online beginning at 8PM EST, broadcast beginning at 10:25PM EST and running through the weekend). Clinton's campaign reached out to Logo to arrange the interview and connect with the LGBT audience. (And in case you're keeping score, John McCain's ... didn't.)
  • Broadway Backwards update: Anthony Rapp (Rent, Adventures in Babysitting) will duet with Cheyenne Jackson at the fundraiser (as previously reported, Hollywood's gay it-couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka will be performing together as well). Be sure to check back next week for our coverage of the star-studded, gender-bending madness.

To Make a Long Story Short ... Young Frankenstein, Hot Men in Sports, and more!

  • Radio station Power 105 cancels the broadcast of a reggae concert after GLAAD raises a stink about the homophobic lyrics of the participating artists. Good for them.
  • A rather funny interview with gay actor Anthony Rapp as he returns to Rent on Broadway. (Warning: contains not one, but TWO Adventures in Babysitting references.)
  • A first look at the Young Frankenstein musical (currently puttin' on the Ritz out in Seattle), including rather wacky interviews with Megan Mullally and Roger Bart.
  • Gay former CNN anchor (and Hot 100 alum) Thomas Roberts reportedly has signed on to The Insider and/or Entertainment Tonight.
  • Fellow Hot 100-er Chris Evans (currently starring in The Nanny Diaries) looks good in clothes. And, one would imagine, out of them.
  • AOL Sports is running a poll on the Hottest Men in Sports. What, did Logo buy them, too?!
  • Finally, don't forget the BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER! wherein I discuss naughty Bond, how smart our readers are, plus I analyze Disney's High School Musical 2 coded gay signals!
