Thanks to the continued awesomeness that is Hulu, you can now watch the Academy Award-winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk in its entirety, after the jump. Be warned that even at 450 pixels wide the film packs a hell of a wallop ... may want to have some hankies at the ready before you settle in. Thanks to the reader who reminded me that the film is now available (I can't find your comment now, sorry!). Meet us in the front row, after the break! Submitted by on Wed, 2009-01-07 11:42. Battle of the Network Gays! for December 19
Every Friday we pick the gays in television who have had the best week and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week and enjoy their own fancy button over on the left. We'll announce the winner on Monday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following Friday to try to steal his title. Reigning Gay of the Week Andrew Van De Kamp (Desperate Housewives) voluntarily forfeited the crown for this week by not delivering us a new episode of his beloved soap. Either that or he just went to the bathroom and left his crown on his seat, but we're taking it anyway! Either way he's out of the running, so our three new contenders will be vying for your attentions without him. Meet the new contenders and find out why they rated this week, after the break! "Milk" cracks the top ten in only 36 theaters
As you may have heard, Gus Van Sant's Harvey Milk biopic opened over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in limited release. But here's what you may not have heard: despite playing in only 36 theaters, Milk raked in almost $2 million, making it the #10 movie of the weekend and giving it a whopping $38,361 per-screen average (compared to the $9,571 per-screen average of Four Christmases, the #1 movie of the weekend). Good news, to be sure. Let's hope the momentum continues as the film continues to open wider around the country. You may recall that earlier this year the Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom movie did similarly boffo per-screen box office (topping $30,000 per theater). The lesson? If you build it (and decorate tastefully), we will come. Did you have a chance to check out Milk over the weekend? What'd you think? Submitted by on Mon, 2008-12-01 11:34.
