video blogBlood Work "True Blood" video blog 11: Sometimes, dead is better.
Pardon my reference to the 90's nonclassic horror movie Pet Sematary, but in this week's Blood Work (much like the True Blood episode that inspired it) we learn that sometimes it's best to leave dead enough alone. Yes, much like babyvamp Jessica, Andy has returned from the grave ... with a few noticeable differences. Join us as we discuss the penultimate episode of the ever-wacky vampire series, complete with mysterious social workers, a fresh corpse, and a big reveal months in the making. Check it out after the break! Submitted by on Wed, 2008-11-19 11:55. Sounds Like a Hit! video blog (2): Express yourself (but please don't say "nugget")
This week, Brian and Kyle "express themselves" about Madonna's latest concert, the Sticky and Sweet tour, and they really get into it. From Paula Abdul and MC Skat Cat to Natalie Cole's "ghost duet" with her late father, these two plow through a mountain of pop culture on their way to their final verdict on the show. Can Madge earn five cone bras out of five from our guys? And an added bonus: Brian's list of words that make him uncomfortable! Also mentioned this week: Aretha Franklin, whose voice was declared a natural resource in the state of Michigan. Enjoy it all after the break! Submitted by on Tue, 2008-11-18 11:57. Mocha Lounge video blog (Ep. 3): Change, blame, and what's next in the wake of Prop 8
In a provocative special edition of The Mocha Lounge, Rob and Ramon take on the scapegoating of black voters in California in the wake of the passing of Proposition 8, talk to openly gay pastor Joseph Tolton in New York City about homophobia's roots in the church, and try to figure out what's next for the LGBT community in the continuing struggle for marriage equality. Inspired by Eddie, Jason and Amy's twisted little game of "vampire house", Andy and I decided this week to tie Andy to a lawnchair to discuss Episode 10 of True Blood. Um ... it didn't go so well. In lighter news, we were delighted to learn that this week the folks at HBO have made Blood Work the featured item on the show's official fan page. We're thrilled to be spreading our foul gospel to more fans of the show, and even more thrilled at the special presents they were kind enough to send us ... which we'll be featuring next week. If you run into any new folks in the darkened hallways of the comments section, do give them a friendly AfterElton welcome! Check it out after the break! Submitted by on Thu, 2008-11-13 15:47. New video blog: Gay in the UK
We're thrilled to unleash our first vlog from parts overseas, the Gay in the UK video blog. Each week Tim and Ryan (who are both gay and in the UK, we're assured) will take us on a tour of gay entertainment news in their charming homeland as well as provide a decidedly British take on gay goings-on over here. Plus, the weekly Wino Award! So pour yourself a spot of tea and click on through for the first installment! Submitted by on Wed, 2008-11-12 09:43. Mores for Gays video blog (Ep. 18): Election breakdown
The gay community has faced an uphill battle in this past election and now that we've come out on the other side, just where do we stand? In this episode, Daniel tracks the progress and the hits that gay rights took across the country. Is there reason to stay hopeful? There sure is, and Daniel explains it all. Check it out after the break! Submitted by on Tue, 2008-11-11 18:10. New video blog: Sounds Like a Hit!
We're excited to bring you a new kind of vlog here at AfterElton.com: in Sounds Like a Hit!, two gay friends on opposite coasts chat via webcam about current pop culture events, music and gay icons. This week Brian (Los Angeles) and Kyle (New York City) dish on Beyonce's multiple-personality disorder, the use of parentheses in pop song titles, and Bob Fosse's routine for "Mexican Breakfast". Then the gents hop into their gay time machine to discuss Bette Midler's performance in The Rose. Welcome the new fellas and enjoy the first episode after the break! Host Cyd Zeigler is back with this week's gay take on sports after taking a week off to remind himself why he doesn't play much golf. This week Cyd discusses some recent coaching changes and then discusses some high-profile athletes who spoke out publicly both for and against Proposition 8. Check it all out after the break! In honor of a Very Big Thing happening in last Sunday's episode of True Blood, Andy and I decided to record this week's Blood Work vlog in our true form. Yes, we're cats. But tails, short attention spans and squishy-soft bellies don't get in the way of our recapping this week's wonderfully wacky episode in all its bloody glory ... check it all out, after the break! We're excited to launch a new vlog that tackles one of my own favorite topics: In our first foodie vlog, LOGOonline's Jon Mallow (The Gay Agenda vlog) and NewNowNext's Colin (The Heidi Chronicles) discuss their favorite cooking shows as they handle and prepare actual food in Jon's kitchen. It's as informative as it is appetizing! To see this week's food and cocktail recipes and dish on the pillars of the television cooking universe, click on through the jump.
