Mark's coming out moment

Mark came out to his mother on tonights episode and it didn't go well. I'm sure a lot of people will say the same thing at the thought o his mom not knowingon the show "Is she blind?" But they did a good job setting the stage for the situation, parents see what they want to see.

I thought it was a great moment. Too bad the actor playing Mark is a total coward about talking about his own sexuality.

That was a

great episode! I loved every minute of it. And I loved how even though Betty and Marc had a "moment" he still stayed true to his character. And the bit with Amanda was hilarious. The fake break-up, and her hissing at the cat was great. I'm so glad both this show and Brothers & Sisters are coming back next year. I would have been so bummed if either weren't.

Ugly Forever

I hope this show goes on FOREVER! I haven't watched every episode, but every time i do I am ALWAYS floored by how genuine and funny it is!

Last night started with a bang! When Betty walked into that bus stop ... LOL! ROTFL! And the scene with Alexis doing the photoshoot ontop of the desk was a riot, too!! The Mr.Roper reference was a nice touch, too.

Although I was really happy with the episode as a whole, I'm almost disappointed that Marc relationship with his mother seems to "wrapped up" already. Marc was really crushed when his mom walked out, and to simply "get over it" like he did at the end of the show seemed a bit too easy. But I guess that's what has to happen with supporting characters, eh? It would be nice to see this situation revisited at some point later in the show, though. Like a follow-up where Marc shows his mother that he's living happily on his own or something. I guess it just ended soo quickly that I feel the need to see more.

Mattie: You are soo right about parents seeing what they want to. It's a testament of how families often "revert" to their given roles when brought together. Ex: Parents sometimes find it hard to think of their children as adults, etc.

I just bet

we haven't seen the last of Marc's mother. I just bet the producers are dying to have Patti Lupone come back again.

I think Michael is right

and Patti Lupone will be back.  Mark may pretend that he is alright, but I think that his mothers rejection is going to shape how his character develops next season.

I think although Marc gained

I think although Marc gained some self-confidence at the end of the episode, he is also heart broken. You cannot get over the fact that your mother reject you so easily. I'm even guessing that he cried before going to sleep because the thing he feared the most just happened. He won't show it though, he doesn't like to be vulnerable.
