Kath & Kim (US version)

You know what, I DON'T hate it. I caught a marathon on Bravo and it was very entertaining. Never having seen the original version (and not planning to in the forseeable future). It's fun, not the best, but fun.

I'm glad to see someone else

I'm glad to see someone else who likes it. It's one of those shows that's so bad/offbeat ya just gotta love it. It kinda reminds me of the Office in that way where you have to watch a couple of episodes before you come to love it and I won't lie, Mikey Day brings me back every week.

THANK you

that's exactly what I wanted to say. It's not quite one of those "it's so bad it's good" deals, but it's getting there. Very offbeat and just fun to watch on a lazy day. plus I absolutely love Molly Shannon. I'm glad someone agrees.

Awful

Simply awful.

Aw, you have to watch it for

Aw, you have to watch it for the good parts like kath's inner monologues or just for how absurdly oblivious everyone is. I guess you have to be in the right mood to watch it, it definitely isn't some Grey's Anatomy, it's more like a even campier Pushing Daisies :P

The reason it's not liked in Australia

is because it completely misses the point of the original version. The characters were meant to be daggy. The situations were meant to be lame. The fashion was not meant to be good!
Hence, it was axed here in Australia after 2 weeks and they put repeats of the original version on instead. And I think it was the right thing to do for Australian audiences.

I had no idea...

...that they showed the US version in Australia, obviously it was DOA. You are right in that it was the right thing to do for Australian audiences, who were most likely loyal to the original. Like I said I probably will never run into the original here, and I like watching this program on a carefree day. Also I'm not surprised it was axed there, it has a lot of American cultural references that might be lost down under...
