Palin is Failin When it Comes to Queer Rights

Palin's Positions

You know, I always love how some conservative politicians feel inclined to point out that they have gay friends and/or relatives, but then turn around and oppose gay rights.  I always wondered how Cheney family dinners go.  Likewise, I wonder how Palin explains herself to her gay "friends".

Just like Strom Thurmond got along real well with the "Negroes" that cleaned his family home, served their meals and maintained the yard (and got along really well with one housemaid in particular) but also opposed their equality.

Palin's just playing the same "compassionate conservative" schtick that other Republicans play all the time, Bush included.  I remember when some recordings were turned up where he apparently said he refused to bash the gay the way some of his advisors wanted him to.  Yes, Bush is just so fair in his treatment of gays. Palin, likewise, will probably go wherever the conservative winds blow.

Apparently, and this is only what I've heard from others who have been reading up on Palin, her gay friends think that gay marriage is ridiculous, so why wouldn't she?  Horrible excuse, but a typically conservative justification if I've ever heard one.

Palin

I find it fascinating (in a vomity way) that she concedes that she does not know if gays choose to be gay.  Yet, she's still willing to discriminate whole-heartedly against us.

I'm deeply afraid for us if this country is dumb enough to vote those two into office.  There's a very real chance that McCain (at 72) will not live to serve his entire term(s).  Leaving Palin as POTUS.  Hillary's head may explode that day.

That Statement of Her's

Well, that position of her's leaves me wondering just how close she really is to these "gay friends" she knows and whether or not they're involved in Exodus or some other "ex-gay" group.  To me it doesn't sound like she really knows very much about gays at all.

I just think that she's really kind of a funny choice on McCain's part because it's obvious he chose her primarily because she's a woman.  He's been harping all this time about Barack Obama's lack of "experience" and how this makes him unready to lead the country. Now McCain has selected someone who hasn't been a governor very long at all and who governs the most and sparesly-populated state despite it's great size.  How is Palin any more ready to lead the country should McCain have stroke than Obama or Biden?

McCain was doubtless frustrated that he couldn't convince Condi Rice to run with him because she would have been a much better selling point than Palin.
