The people behind VL...how do they feel about YouTube?

Hey...I was going to write the people involved with the creating and writing of the material on VL, I wanted to tell them how good I thought there Ollian story was, but I had a thought...maybe they don't know how popular they are on YouTube.  If they don't...and they suddenly find out...is there a chance they'll yank the material because of copyright laws?

It seems when American companies find out that their stuff is on YouTube they ask to have it taken down.

Does anybody know if the VL folks are aware of their YouTube popularity?

I'm sure they know.

Jo and Thore appeared on a talk show about a month ago and mentioned the youtube phenomenon, and how they'd received letters and gifts from fans around the world.

I suspect that, like ATWT, they are willing to allow the clips to air on youtube, knowing that it brings more publicity to their show.

I'm pretty sure they know

I'm pretty sure they know but are quietly ignoring it. After all we know the actors know (afterall Jo Weil wrote gaydaytime and even made a picture of himself with the website and gave them an interview; and both Jo and Thore were told in the Giga interview; not to mention that I'm sure various people have mentioned it in their fanmail).

The offical ard website regularly deletes posts on their message boards that have youtube links in it, but they don't do anything about youtube itself.

Also, a lot of German channels (ARD which airs VL, RTL which airs AWZ, ARD's sister channel ZDF) offer as much as they can of their programs for free, without ads, internationally for streaming. They probably figure that there is no harm in it and that whoever watches internationally isn't going to watch their channel and their ads live anyway.

My guess is that they know but are politely ignoring it.

The Giga interview where the youtube videos are mentioned to Jo and Thore and where they talk about what an honor it is to suddenly get international mail can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/werkseife

I know they know ...

;-) Trust me on this.

I think right now it's a silent agreement that as long as not entire episodes go up and the clips focus on Ollian, they are gonna let it go.

I am also sure that...

they know and don't intend to do anything.

Even the entire episodes of VL are uploaded on youtube every day a couple of hours after the episode actually aired. I watch them on youtube, when I missed the airing. This has been going on for months and nothing has happened.

They do know about the

They do know about the YouTube craze regarding Olli and Christian, but are turning a blind eye to it. Plus, it's damn good publicity for the show, which wasn't really noticed internationally prior to the Olli and Christian storyline kicking off.
