What Is It About? The latest from bear fave Kevin Smith, Zack tells the story of opposite-sex slacker friends (Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks) who decide to make some money by…well, read the title of the movie.

Why Is It Gay? Zack and Miri get the idea to make their movie from a gay porn star, played by Justin Long, whose boyfriend is played by Superman Return’s Brandon Routh. Weirdly, both Long and Routh are uncredited. Is it easier to play gay that way? (Justin Long is listed in the cast on IMDB.com, but his character name isn’t provided.)

Big Budget or Indie Darling? His indie roots go deep, but Smith’s getting big budgets now because Hollywood still senses some Judd Apatow-like breakout potential in his crude films.

Broccoli or Dessert? Edible undies all the way.

Movie: Quantum of Solace (November 14)

What Is It About? Will the much-mocked name of the latest James Bond movie somehow make sense upon seeing it? Who cares? After the sublime Casino Royale, this is guaranteed to open wide.

Why Is It Gay? Um, anyone remember a little scene in the surf with Craig in a certain square-cut blue swimsuit?

Big Budget or Indie Darling? If Craig is playing his Casino Royale cards right, his salary alone could pay for most of the other movies on this list.

Broccoli or Dessert? Even if Bond won't be shagging a guy anytime soon this is delicious whipped cream — preferably licked from Craig’s glistening chest.

Movie: Ciao (December, exact date TBA)

What Is It About? Mark dies, and his surviving best friend Jeff strikes up a friendship with Mark’s online friend from Italy, Andrea (a man). Andrea comes to visit, and he and Jeff spend an intense weekend bonding over their mutual love of Mark.

Why Is It Gay? Gay characters and situations. But it also happens to be one of the best gay indie films ever made.

Big Budget or Indie Darling? This movie could have been made with Daniel Craig’s pocket change.

Broccoli or Dessert? Okay, it’s broccoli. But it’s really, really good broccoli! Organic broccoli, perfectly prepared, with just the right seasoning! Just go see it, okay?
