Liveblogging "One Life To Live": So ... Now What?
Now that the giddiness has subsided, Oliver and Kyle must face reality. Where do they go from here? Will they take it slowly? Jump in to a relationship? What about Nick? Shouldn't Kyle get the tux back to the store? Hopefully we'll find the answers to some of these questions today. Join us for the fun and refresh for updates! 2:05PM EST: It's voting day (as the voice of God informs us), and Langston can't understand why Marko is hesitant to vote for Dorian. HA!!! Brody is tied up with masking tape. Calm down, commenters, don't make me come down there! I love sarcastic Nick! Amelia says "maybe Kyle just wasn't ready to get married". Nick rolls his eyes and says "you think?" Oliver and Kyle are on a rooftop (apparently they've been on the rooftop the last ten hours talking about ... everything). Oliver says "we really need to talk ... about the future". I don't think he means colonizing Mars. 2:15PM EST: More comings and goings at the voting booth (which is the same place the wedding took place. It beats building another set). Dorian introduces Amelia to Marko's parents. Brody is struggling to break free, and his shirt flies up a little revealing a hint of bare skin. Not that I noticed or anything. His sister Scarah Fawcett comes in, and it actually takes him a second to realize that his sister was the one who knocked him out. 2:25PM EST: "Love is like muffins. Don't stir too hard ... there's supposed to be lumps". Oliver is wondering how the guys on the force are going to react (I would have thought his hot meltdown a few weeks ago would have tipped his fellow officers off). He admits to never being in a real relationship with a man. He's never even been on a real date. Kyle smiles sweetly and says "it's really complicated. Here's step one ... would you like to go out with me?" Oliver beams. AWWWW!!!!! Okay, now Brody's bound and gagged. And it was so helpful of him to guide the knot right into his mouth.
2:35PM EST: Okay, apparently there's some kind of mind-control ray that affects the obscure relatives of Llanview residents. Now Rex's Aunt is in on the big deception. Oliver is nervous that he won't be what Kyle expected, but Kyle tells him not to worry, and that whatever comes, they'll deal with it together. They hug, and they both says "I love you" to each other, and share a sweet kiss. Apropos of nothing, if this new version of V doesn't include the villainess unhinging her jaw to swallow a guinea pig, I am going to be very disappointed. 2:45PM EST: Blah, Blah, Jared stuff. Is it bad that I'm hoping for another trip to the ancient underground city of Eterna for the entire cast (including Kish). The two of them can get involved in lots of Indiana Jones-esque intrigue. 2:50PM EST: Awkward! Oliver and Kyle show up to vote and run into Nick. Oliver excuses himself, and Kyle tells Nick "I never wanted to embarrass you. I never wanted to hurt you. This wedding thing kind of forced the issue". Nick says "I hope the two of you are very happy" and walks off. Poor Nick. Rex shows up to talk to his Aunt, and Scarah is there to offer him some ... coffee. Uh-Oh. I need the euphoria to be over
Friday's and yesterday's episodes made me so euphoric I really hope today's brings some reality into the storyline. I like Nick's response....I really don't think Kyle was the one he wanted specifically...I just think he wanted to make a statement about his life and the passion for his activism was translated into what he thought was love for Kyle. Kyle was very vulnerable and hurt and need the attention Nick was giving him.
Now I really hope the Kyle and Oliver see that life is complicated and that this new relationship between them is not a college relationship.. Real life has it's obstacles that get thrown at relationships. But I think they can deal with them and that will also make for a good soap storyline. They are already so involved in other storylines as individuals that getting them involved in the story as a couple will be great!.

i feel the same way guys! i haven't been able to concentrate on my work recently because i keep thinking about kish all the day. and what's up with today's episode?!?!?! i would expect after that big kish moment yesterday things would start to settle - but nooooo... they have to show us another great moment between our two heroes!!! when mr. valentini and mr. carlivati said they were committed to this couple - they really really mean it!
i've been a total mess since friday - crying and squealing and laughing and melting and.... aaahh!!! enough already! but i've heard that there's something big that will happen on November 6.... god! i don't know if my heart can handle another epic kish moment!

And you don't know what will happen. Unlike Nuke, there's a greater probability of Kyle and Oliver having sex soon instead of waiting for almost two years to do the deed. Llanview doesn't roll like Jokedale, thankfully.
Real life does have sex in it
I really hope that writers of OLTL do include some bed scenes between Oliver and Kyle....ABC has been a courageous network with gay storylines...and I would not be surprised at all if OLTL was the first daytime soap to show two gay men in bed...doesn't have to be a steamy sex scene, but just being in an more intimate situation would be great. But we have just seen the first bed scene between Kevin and Scotty on Brothers and Sisters during the last episode....and it wasn't sexually based it was just them talking in bed. I think that's what they may have Oliver and Kyle do sometime.
Where is this backstory located?
In the August 6th Episode...
...Kyle flat out said that he and Oliver were "lovers" in college before Kyle kissed Oliver to remind Oliver of their history.
After Oliver slept with Layla for the first time and he reported the incident to Kyle in the locker room of the gym (right before Kyle and Nick met), Kyle mentioned that Oliver would get drunk and fall asleep while crying in Kyle's arms back in college.
These indicate that something physical did happen between Oliver and Kyle, and that they did have sex during their fratboy days.

is a soapopera. Where everyday hetro couples have sex just because. So why should kish and other gay couples have to wait for that "right" special moment. Clearly I see a double standard. When Fish was "playing" straight, the show had no problem with Layla grabbing his junk. Stacy putting her funbags in his face. Yet the boy are allowed to kiss,hug and all is right with the world.
Clearly the guys are shown in an asexual way. Because we don't want to offend middle america. I mean DVTM,Rex and Schulyer show more "G"qualities than Kish and Nick combined.

I would have lost a lot of respect for them if they had gone straight to bed. Just as they decided not to get married before they had a real date because they wanted to get it right, they are going to take it slow and hopefully make this a permanent arrangement in the meantime. If they had fallen into bed it wouldn't have been true to what we know of their characters (Todd was sexually abused as a child, he has used sex to hurt, heal and everything else and Blair and Tea have done the same, Blair slept with a 19 year old once just cause she was hurting; those characters' reunions are always sexually explosive because those are the characters), which have shown Fish to be hesitant and deliberate in love and life and sex...except for when he got blitzed with something to prove and then he regretted it instantly upon waking (was physically ill). Kyle has waited so long for true love and for happiness and in all his arguments with Fish he's never used "and we had great sex" as one of the arguments for why they were good together. This has always been about the emotional connections these two have and the fear and the hesitancy they must overcome (for different reasons). They want true love and they want forever and they dont' want to repeat either of their own mistakes. Staying up all night talking on a rooftop was great for me...there was a kiss yesterday and a kiss today, so I don't need to take the lack of sex as a fear on TPTB's part (ahem, ATWT), so I'll take this...everything about it is sweetly romantic and a little hesitant. That is the throughline for those characters, so I want them to play out consistently. The sex will, er, come...in time.

Everytime I see Nick I ask myself why I never warmed to him...why I never really took him as a threat to the reunion of Kyle and Oliver...
Part of it is definitely that we haven't seen enough of Nick (with Kyle or alone) to ingratiate him to the audience, but even when I do see him, I find him to be kinda stiff.

The time difference
Oliver was working as a cop on the wedding day so maybe they both got together after Oliver's shift was over or Kyle had to work too so his as well?
I like how Oliver and Kyle are taking it slow. Frankly, the fact they didn't jump into bed like all the other straight hussies is a great thing. Let's just not make it 1 year later and have a bad mistletoe incident in December.
And remember, the more these two separately ingrain themselves into the Llanview scene, the more they show that gay men are just like us. Oliver has crime covered and Kyle has medical cases covered and this IS a soap opera where this kind of stuff happens all the time! Then we have a nice scene where the two snuggle in front of the fire or TV and talk about their days... with Stacey Marasco's baby of course rocking in the background. I wonder if Oliver or Kyle bake?
I also wonder how long Ameila's clock has before it is sprung. What would be a true kicker would be how she ends up leaving Dorian for another woman maybe because she actually fell in love and how that affects Dorian and he feelings for David. Treat it respectfully and give Ameila the out of finding love rather some violent death or a bitchy scene.
I wonder also, who is Nick going to be related to... hmmm

I know I will get in trouble for this but Kyle needs to gay it up just a tad more. I absolutely love these two and I am so happy that this "American" soap is not holding back, but as good as Brett Claywell is doing (and he is doing really well) I have to say he's just a little too bro-like with the arm around the shoulder, the stomach pats, etc. I half expected them to pound fists instead of kiss. That being said they did kiss and I LOVED it. And like I said Brett is really doing a great job especially the looks and expressions on his face during the whole wedding. His angst was awesome and when he turned and walked to Oliver...Loved it. And today when he asked him on a date. I can't wait to see it. Okay, I totally contradicted myself in this post but the voices in my head are arguing right now so it was hard to keep track!
