Jake Gyllenhaal in new "Prince of Persia" Trailer
Wouldn't you just know that minutes after I put up the last post and plan to sign off for the day, the new trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia has to get slipped under the office door. Man, a hardworking editor's day is never done! Both Jake and the movie look pretty good — as long as I ignore the fact it's based on a video game. Still, if all those straight boys get Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft then I'll damn well take my beefcake action picture based on a video game too! Submitted by on Mon, 2009-11-02 19:32. |

Not that I'm complaining about seeing Jake. It's just that the title of the movie is "Prince of Persia". I thought maybe they would get a Persian/Iranian actor.

I'm sure there will be some controversy about the white-washing when the film is released just like the ongoing stuff about "The Last Airbender" casting all white actors for asian characters.
I am a bit disturbed by the fact that they cast white British actress Gemma Atherton in this movie, then clearly darkened her skin to look Persian. I would be alright with color-blind casting if the reverse where also true. You don't see many minorites playing white characters or characters that were at least originally written for white actors.

This looks like dreck, but high-class dreck. Can Hollywood get any sillier? I hope it makes Jake a fortune. But I doubt I'll be seeing it. In the meantime, we should all be supporting independent films like "Plan B" and "Passenger Side."

Oh lord. It looks like yet
Oh lord. It looks like yet another cartoon with real actors edited in once in a while. CGI is a wonderful tool for making movies, but it’s way overdone far too often.
But, call me shallow, Jake shirtless makes for a better chance of me watching, in spite of all the overdone CGI.
And once in a while, overdone special effects cheese is fun for escapism. Popcorn with a good friend and this silliness onscreen can make for a fun time.
Angie & Tomb Raider
The straight guys may get Angie as Lara Croft but there was something for everyone in those movies, really. The first one featured a really hot shower scene with Lara's love interest, some guy named Daniel Craig. I think he was naked on screen before she was, actually. The second one featured a dashing rogue love interest, some bit actor named Gerard Butler (admittedly he wasn't in King Leonides trim yet but he was still way hot.)

how the hell does someone like him go from good movie after good movie to...well, this?i guess it's just me. it looks pretty dumb...then again, i am not a fan of these kinds of movies. I did like POTC though and LOTR. I guess it depends really though.I might see it. it may be good. who knows? :-P
