Ten of the Sexiest Movie Villains

*Note: This list originally ran on August 10th, 2007

Sometimes villains can be hot! Here are ten of cinema's sexiest bad boys...

T-1000 (Terminator 2)

As a shapeshifting machine sent backwards in time to assassinate a future enemy, Robert Patrick managed to turn the cold single-mindedness of the T-1000 into a strong and silent sexiness. There was a gracefulness the his efficiency of his movement, which gave his villain a mix of menace and harsh beauty.

Todd Gaines (Go)

Even though Timothy Olyphant exuded menace as a drug dealer in Doug Liman's comedy Go, he was also so smoking hot that his looks overrode every sensible braincell screaming to keep away from him.

The Candyman (Candyman)

As an urban legend come to life, Tony Todd was so unwavering and assured in his strength it was easy to see the seductive side of the fearsome spectre. Todd's low voice was so comforting it was like a warm embrace while also carrying a barely-hidden threat to it.

Tom Ripley (The Talented Mr. Ripley)

Playing an outcast so obsessed with finding entry into high society, Matt Damon played Tom Ripley with a mix of vulnerability, smarts and insanity. Damon made it hard to look past Ripley's charm and see the troubled, dangerous man beneath it.

Jackson Rippner (Red Eye)

In Red Eye Cillian Murphy terrorizes Rachel McAdams with a solid focus on a complex plan. Murphy convincingly makes his character a clever mastermind who is difficult to outsmart. He never arrogantly rests on the expectation that his plan is flawless, making his confidence alluring.

Bullseye (Daredevil)

While Daredevil was a bit of a snore, overall, the film momentarily came to life whenever Colin Farrell's villain was on the screen. He brought a sexy energy to the film that was surprisingly missing, considering how he wasn't the only photogenic member of the cast.

John "JD" Dean (Heathers)

In this wickedly spot-on satire of youthful cynicism, Christian Slater gave JD the kind of charisma that would make you want to believe in "Ich Lüge" bullets. A powerful charmer, his talk of teenage rebellion against societal conformity and media messaging was seductive, making it too possible to overlook the terrible deeds he was planning until it was too late.

Alex de Large (A Clockwork Orange)

It is very, very wrong to find the thuggish and brutal Alex sexy but Malcolm McDowell deployed a mischievous gaze and glowing smirk that made the character frustratingly hard to find completely appalling.

Zao (Die Another Day)

With or without diamonds embedded in his skin, Rick Yune manages to exude the same sort of suave charm and sharp style that is typically associated with his target, James Bond.

Steven Grlscz (The Wisdom of Crocodiles)

You don't forget the film that introduces you to a man as beautiful as Jude Law to you, especially when he succeeds in portraying an ages old vampire who hides decades of wisdom behind his youthful visage.

    Some Very Sexy Choices

I was glad to see Matt Damon high up in your list.  His portrayal of Tom Ripley was excellent.  I actually felt a touch of sympathy for his character, especially at the end when he murdered his lover to prevent being discovered.  He was obviously a very tortured human being.

Another great villain role by Jude Law was in "Road To Perdition".  His portrayal of a psychopathic hit man chasing Tom Hanks character was very chilling.  A nasty human being if there ever was one.

    Robert Patrick...

... has the most amazing body you'll ever see on a guy. I think he used to be a body builder, or something. After watching him on X-Files, etc, it surprised the heck out of me to see him shirtless.

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

Remember Christian Bale in American Psycho?

uh..... how could Christian Bale as the fashionably chic, perfectly chisled physique, and freshly manicured Patrick Bateman escape your top 10?! He would be my #1 for sure!

I'd also include DOMINIC PURCELL as Drake in Blade Tinity, Justin Theroux as Seamus O'Grady in Charlies Angels: Full Throttle, and Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four films!!

Your vanilla photo of Matt Damon as Tom Ripley just reminds me of how much sexier the original, Alain Delon, was in the role:

And he's even sexier (and more menacing) in "Le Samourai":

    "The mountain has wings."

    Red Eye

Some great Netflix recommendations here! But pardon me while I go lather up and shave my cheek with Cillian Murphy's chin.  Ouch!

    Matt Damon

Matt Damon as Tom Ripley was a great performance!  He was sweet-faced, soft-spoken, handsome & obsessed and psycopathic in the same breath.  When at the end of the movie, I find myself almost feeling sorry for him (even though his lover is the obvious victim!)... I realise just how easily Tom Ripley manipulates and toys with the emotions (he almost gets to me as well!).  Mark of a true villain.

I know this is kinda OT but...

One of my favorite TV villains was Spike from Buffy..

..when he was a badass bloodsucking villain..

It would've rocked to see Spike in a Buffy movie.  Alas..

    Timothy Olyphant

I just watched GO again a month or so ago, and was reminded just how fine Timothy Olyphant is.... I'm trying to remember, has he been in anything the last few years?  I just can't remember...

    Anyway, fun list!  8)

    Timothy

Deadwood... he was overshadowed in the show but was great. He also was the villain in Scream 2.

    Chev Chelios

Crank 1 and 2 are awesome films if you like mindless running about, violence and lots of swearing (which i do) and Jason Statham is just a wonderful sight to behold plus a little menacing, but in a good way.

He makes a great bad boy!

    Christian Bale played his

Christian Bale played his role in american psycho to perfection he should be on this list!!

I would also include Woody Harrelson for his role in Natural Born Killers.

    Nice choices..

I've had a guy crush on Malcolm McDonald since ClockWork and Caligula. I gotta say if anyone has seen Viruosity, Russell Crowe as Sid 6.7 was so cool he was hot. Had a quick butt shot ya'll might appreciate.

A list of really hot movie

A list of really hot movie villains has to include Ray Winstone in "Cold Mountain", Rick Zumwalt in "Over the top", Jeff Bridges in "Iron Man", Abraham Benrubi and Nick Offerman in "Miss Congeniality 2" and James Gandolfini in "True Romance" and "8mm". Hot men obviously make me watch really bad movies.

Also, since you mention "Daredevil", the hot villain in that one was Michael Clarke Duncan not Collin Farrel.

What about Zachary Quinto aka Syler of Heroes?

and Dirty, Sexy Money's Glenn Fitzgerald who play Brian Darling , the half brother of Peter Krause character.

    What about Julian McMahon

What about Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom? He's always driven me crazy ^_^

    Darth Vader, hands down

...no.. it's not Anakin Skywalker we are talking about now..

    twinkeeper's picture

    Oh, wait... Alan Rickman!

He was cool in Die Hard, developing legions of fans in Harry Potter, kind of sexy in Robin Hood, and made me quiver as Rasputin...  The man made the tackiest villains very hot!

Is there a reason why there

Is there a reason why there seems to be a daily re-hash of old top-lists this week? Did I miss a memo?

    Candyman, Candyman, Candyman!

Tony Todd has always made my knees weak.  His acting in that freaky movie sold it to me.

    Oooh, Alan Rickman

Alan Rickman, pretty much the hottest villain ever for me. In everyone of his movies. He just talks and I get goosepumps.
