Queerview television guide for July 29

Psst. Did you remember to Vote for Matt today? 'cause I am dying to see him work his design mojo every week on my teevee.

Celebrity Family Feud (NBC) 8:00 PM EDT
Alright, it's time for the other match that piqued my gay interests as gay icon Margaret Cho's family (including Cho's parents) battles against the family of Corbin Bernsen — which, for me, is all about getting to see Amanda Pays on my TV again. (Also joining Cho are Selene Luna and John Stapleton, who we'll be soon watching on The Cho Show.)

America's Got Talent (NBC) 9:00 PM EDT
Well, the delayed appearance of drag performers The Kinsey Sicks finally airs tonight. I was pretty excited about their appearing on the show but for me that interest has faded significantly after learning that their appearance has been reduced to being part of a montage. Plus, there are other shows on at nine...

Food Detectives (Food Network) 9:00 PM EDT
One of my favorite food guys, Ted Allen (along with Popular Science magazine), takes on food myths on this new series (which is sounding like the Food Network's take on Mythbusters) that challenges legends like the 5-second rule. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed we get to see him trading quips about food with Alton Brown.

Eureka (SciFi) 9:00 PM EDT
Well, I'm not expecting us to be discussing this show very much if the first two seasons are any gauge, but the SciFi Channel's quirky comedy does have its own "barely there gay" character in the form of local restaurant owner, Vincent.

Flipping Out (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
The promos this week are promising that "Someone. Will. DieQuit." in this week's episode — and considering Jeff's behavior of last week, I wouldn't be surprised to see a group walkout. Then again all that cringing I did last week was probably Bravo's attempt to add some suspense to this week's teaser. Could we just get more of eleven year-old Erin talking to Jeff with more confidence than her mother does?

Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (Oxygen) 10:00 PM EDT
Well, last week it happened on Flipping Out, this week it's Tori who hires a psychic to clear out any bad spirits in her house.

    Vincent

One of the best characters on Eureka, and sadly underused. I hope one day we get an episode where they explain what his genius is. Maybe they already have. Sci-Fi is evil in making us wait almost a year between seasons for Eureka.

    Intervention

Just to let you know, last night's episode of Intervention featured a gay man named Asa battling bulimia and alcoholism. A&E reruns their episodes fairly often, so you might want to keep an eye out and alert Queerview readers next time it's on.

    Thanks!

A&E's episode descriptions don't make it easy to spot the gay content in advance... unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's rerunning soon (if A&E's website is accurate) but I'll try to keep an eye out for it.

High School Musical: Get in the Picture

You might also want to keep an eye on High School Musical: Get in the Picture, a reality show about finding people to star in the next HSM movie or Broadway show (I'm not sure which). Anyway, there looked to be several gay contestants in the quarter and semi-finals, although I'm not sure how many of them (if any) were picked to be part of the group of 12 finalists. I guess you'd want to confirm with their publicists to see if any of them are out of the closet. The show currently airs Sunday and Monday nights on ABC.
