Stan Lee bringing Perry Moore's gay "Hero" to Showtime

This is, um, super:

Perry Moore's young adult novel Hero - which tells the coming-out story of a gay teen superhero - is being developed as a one-hour series for Showtime by comics legend Stan Lee.

We knew that Lee and Moore were working together on something from their appearance together at a gay comics event earlier this year, but this is great news. Showtime of course brought us the groundbreaking Queer as Folk and The L Word, and while something based on a young adult novel might not be as racy as either of these series, it will no doubt continue the trend of out-loud, out-proud television.

We can't wait to hear more! In the meantime, check out our interview with Moore and our interview with Lee.

Best news ever!

As a gay man, I'm so happy to hear this. As a comic book geek from waaaay back AND a gay man...my head just exploded.

Sounds Great

I still read comics even though I'm old enough to know better so this news excites me.

Am I the only one thinking

Am I the only one thinking that Perry Moore looks like Adam Grimes on the magazine ? ... yeah I know totally off-topic but yeah...

Great news otherwise ^^

Yeah!

I think the book was a bit generic (so many rip-offs of the X-Men) but it's super news anyway.  I guess I'll have to switch from HBO and Skinamax to Showtime when this starts airing!

Lol, that was what was so

Lol, that was what was so good about it! you didn't need Perry to explain it for you because they were already explained. The book was written to point out those things (not to mention the HUGE allusion to superman;-))
