America's Got Talent (NBC) 9:00 PM EDT
This week features all the acts picked as the best of the auditions and should feature queer contestants including country dance troupe The DC Cowboys, America's favorite dragapella quartet The Kinsey Sicks, Britney Spears impersonator Derrick Barry and Tina Turner impersonator Dorae Saunders. From those acts the top forty will go on to the semi-finals, where the public will get to vote on who moves on to compete for the grand prize.
Food Detectives (Food Network) 9:00 PM EDT
Do people who double-dip deserve to be shunned from your party? Can ginger really help with motion sickness? More importantly, will Ted Allen stop yelling at the audience? I adore Ted but that first episode could have used a little less energy ... I'm hoping that'll get fixed as the season continues because Ted geeking out about food science should be so much cooler than that premiere.
Ted Allen
Flipping Out (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
With Commonwealth sold, Jeff has to find a place to live, all while trying to finish the Encino job. With all that going on, I guess it's not surprising to see Jenni get all snappish with Jeff in the promos for tonight's season finale.
Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (Oxygen) 10:00 PM EDT
Tori gives birth in the season finale, which hopefully will bring everyone together including BFF/business partner Mehran as well as Liam's party planners, Bill and Scout.
Adam Grimes as Night Shift doc Kyle Julian
General Hospital: Night Shift (SOAPNet) 11:00 PM EDT
While the current state of General Hospital still invokes old bitter soap geek wounds (hey, I'm a former Santa Barbara and Another World viewer), this prime-time spin-off series is turning out to be a pretty solid soap with plenty of gratuitous beefcake. I know I should be wanting more, but for the moment I'm really enjoying the camaraderie between gay doc Kyle (Grimes) and his new roommate Claire (Carrie Southworth) ... which means I'm also enjoying the Kyle and Claire webisodes on the Night Shift website.
Million Dollar Listing (Bravo) 11:00 PM EDT
Just as one World of Wonder docu-soap ends (Tori and Dean), another begins. Following a handful of realtors who work in high-end properties (including bisexual Playgirl coverguy Madison Hildebrand) Million Dollar Listing will look into what kind of competitive skills it takes to make the big sale.

GH vs AW?
I can understand the anger towards GH vis a vis Santa Barbara--they aired opposite each other--but what did GH do to Another World? AW was always up against ATWT and One Life to Live.... Or is just the fact that the senseless, crime-ridden GH is still on the air (and unaccountably winning Emmy Awards) while AW has gone to soap heaven?
GH, AW, SB...
Oh, come on, none of it's THAT bad!
I grew up watching Another World and Santa Barbara... (I probably shouldn't say this, but they had to take me out of a classroom in school because I was crying the day after Eden 'died'... I was SO sad!) and both were truly fantastic in their time, and were probably cancelled too early. But I really was losing interest in each of them the last year or two each were on. That doesn't dilute the wonderful memories I have of each now! (However, when they re-aired some old AW's on Soapnet last year or the year before, that was dangerous to my memories! But they were still nostalgic fun if nothing else!)
GH is still a consistantly well-written and well-acted show. I have gotten to the point I could TOTALLY do without the whole mob thing, and there WILL be curses yelled at my house if they bring Sonny and Carly together AGAIN. However, I've now been watching it for around 10 years, so I'm not surprised by these feelings. Seriously, I've watched some other soaps (which I won't name) and it's just not the same. Some others characters act totally out of character, or never seem to have any reasons why they do what they do. GH has characters almost always acting in ways that make sense for them. And it has a wonderful sense of perspective, in that, Sonny for instance, doesn't see himself as a villain, or evil. Yet the Quartermaines think he's a devil. And both sides are right. For the most part, no one's a cartoony caricature. I think that's why it's still around and winning awards.
That all said, I'm actually enjoying One Life to Live the most at the moment. It's been very busy, with lots of great character moments, comedy, adventure, nostalga, and even time-travel right now!?! It's just been a load of fun. Give it a watch if you got some time.
Keeping even more on topic, I'm sad that GHNS is on so late here, that's right when I go to bed, so I don't get to watch it until Thursday - but I can't wait to see it! 8)
Wow - way to much soap rambling, huh? 8)
To be honest...
...I'm only going by the constant complaints I see on various message boards; I haven't watched GH since 1983, and I doubt I'll be starting anytime soon, unless Dr. Kyle transfers to the mothership.
In my youth, I avidly watched Ryan's Hope at 12:30, Young and Restless at 1, As the World Turns or Another World at 2, and Guiding Light or Santa Barbara at 3; I was really addicted to SB--I would run home every day from school just to see what happened next--and, yeah, I sobbed when Mary was crushed by the letter 'C' during the storm. Eventually, RH was cancelled, SB was moved to 10am in my area so I had to stop watching it, I grew bored with Y&R, leaving me with just ATWT, AW or GL to enjoy. Now, AW is gone, and GL and ATWT are barely watchable.
I've heard that OLTL is the best soap on the air right now, with top-notch writing and acting; I'd check it out, but I know so very little of the history.
Check out my blog: http://radicalsexy.blogspot.com/
Yes, Joseph...
...you should start watching OLTL. I watched that and AMC for years. OLTL was aways the most consistantly well written and interesting show. Even AMC would go into boring dry spells occasionally but I never experienced that with OLTL. If you go onto the official web site they have back stories of ALL the characters that go back YEARS. (at least they used to) You could easily get caught up on the characters that interest you. Todd was always my favourite when played by Roder Howarth. You'd never know that he can do a great character. It's all in the writing. Todd was bad to the bone and he did that role justice.
I used to watch Ryan's Hope with my mother when I was in school. I was so sad when they cancelled it.
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
And Wikipedia...!
And Wikipedia is another good source for some background.
Seriously, I've only started watching OLTL regularly within the last year, otherwise I saw it sporradically over the last couple. Some Wiki entries are bare bones, but some are REAL extensive, and gives a LOT of background.
Something I really like about both GH and OLTL is that they both consistanly build quite creatively and well upon the past and past storylines. So you often get little history of the show lessons as you follow along!

ATWT used to do that stuff
I've been hearing...
I'm not sure who's in a worse situation with GL:NS. Where I am, it airs against the second hour of America's Got Talent and my summer guilty pleasure
The Laughing at Gaijin HourI Survived a Japanese Game Show. My DVR will be skipping that second AGT hour, so hopefully I don't miss The Kinsey Sicks, who I've been looking forward to seeing.GH:NS also airs...
...as an omnibus on Saturdays; incidently, the TVGuide blurbs about the show don't indicate a romance for Kyle in coming episodes:

Go DC Cowboys go!!!! I've never seen this show, but.....
I can tell you that the DC Cowboys are quite a lively/sexy bunch. I'll bring some of their hot pictures on here. Lyle, I hate you (of course not for real) for bringing this to my attention as I've never watched America's got talent and if these guys make it to the show, I'll have to start a serious campaign, and possibly watch the show.
The upside is that your work will start seeing all-time high clicks from the DC area as few of my friends read anything I post here, but I am certain that the DC Cowboys will be another story. Did they make it to the show? Do all acts perform weekly? Is the show really painful to watch? I know that it's been the number one show alll summer, but it looks so "NBC retro."

Is it Stetsons?
Not sure...
Kinda/sort of. It's all about Remington's. Check out the link.
http://www.dccowboys.org/
I know a couple of the guys via a good friend of mine who opened up an out of this world B&B here in DC. Since he's no dummy, he got the cream of the crop to season the the photos of rooms/showers/beds.... Hats, boots, and water. All tasteful of course.
I've only been to their home base a handful of times, but should go more often as it's the anti-DC wannabe NYC bar. I've rarely felt so at home with the crowd, yet so absolutely uncoordinated as the place has a good ole boys, girls, and all sorts of couplings who dance as good as any pro. These all move in unison as I watch in awe and wind up playing pool upstairs.
Useless factoid: Remington's was the very first place that I think a man across the room ever bought me a drink. I could try and sex it up by saying that he looked like my new imaginary bf (Alexander from Homophic), but this man was old enough to be my great grandfather, was donning heavy Nancy Reagan red drag, and seemed mostly interested in seeing if I could deep throat a beer bottle. The nerve of that little old man? Actually I loved every minute of it.

Ah!
Lyle you are so right about the audition.
I'll have to check with my sources about what is up as maybe I was blinded by the hot photo sessions and generally great vibe at said bar.
